Our Three Clubs

Mentone Little Athletics Centre

Mentone Little Athletics is affiliated with Little Athletics Victoria and caters for age groups from Under 6 to Under 17.

Competition is held at Mentone Track and Field Centre on Saturday mornings from early October through to the end of March. In addition, there is one or more Friday twilight sessions each season. A number of regional and state events provide additional competition.

Training and coaching for all age groups is held on Wednesday afternoons between 5pm and 6pm during the season, including access to coaches affiliated with Athletics Australia and the Australian Track & Field Coaches Association.

Under 6 athletes start out with on-track sessions that are fun and designed to teach the basic skills of athletics. They then move into events such as 70 and 100m sprints, 200m, long jump, shot put and discus. As the children grow, they are progressively introduced to more technical events such as high jump and hurdles. Longer distance running events including 400m, 800m and 1500m are also introduced, as well as walks and triple jump.

Mentone Athletic Club

Founded in 1942, the Mentone Athletic Club (MAC) is affiliated with Athletics Victoria and provides fitness and fun for athletes aged 13+

MAC aims to support community health and personal development for people of all abilities and also has a proud history of producing highly successful and internationally competitive athletes.

Teams and athletes compete year-round in the Athletics Victoria Shield League as well as Victorian and Australian Track and Field Championships. During winter, athletes participate in Athletics Victoria’s premier Cross Country and Road series.

MAC services and programs provide access to the training venue at Dolamore, supported by a panel of highly qualified and experienced coaches who cover the full range of running, throwing, jumping, vaulting and race-walking disciplines as well as more general fitness and conditioning programs.

Mentone Masters Athletics

Mentone Masters meet year-round on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Events are open to all ages and abilities, with a unique mix of fun, fitness and social connection. Participation is the key focus, with those involved ranging in age from the 90s down to members’ children and grandchildren.

The club includes some outstanding veteran athletes who compete at local, national and international level age-group competitions.

Events are conducted for fitness walkers and race walkers (400m through to 5km), runners (sprint, middle distance and distance (50m to 10km)) and field events such as shot put and javelin, with different events held each week. Most events are based on a timed or distance handicap or on a self-estimated time/distance.
